Before we get going on the next camping trip of 2020, let’s take a break and visit some ordinary housekeeping things about this blog. I’ll intersperse a few fun photos/images in between the paragraphs of this short blog post.
The photo above was taken out my office window at home, facing east, on a lovely winter early evening this winter. That sky must have been reflecting a particularly stunning western sunset! Ok, now onto the bloggy stuff …
First off, if you’d like to receive a very brief email every time I create a new blog post, you can sign up for that in the upper right corner of this webpage. Simply enter your email address and click on “Subscribe”, and then follow any further directions. Just say “yes” to everything. 🙂
Secondly, comments! I love comments. Add info about things that I’ve missed or don’t know about, ask questions, tell jokes, let me know which photo is your favorite, etc. Chat with each other. It’s all good. We learn from each other this way about all sorts of things in the world.
Thirdly, who reads this blog anyway? People from more and more countries are reading along … repeat readers, not spammers. Here is the current list of countries with people who have read the blog since its inception in 2016: Albania, Algeria, American Samoa, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Cambodia, Canada, Cayman Islands, Chile, China, Columbia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Ecuador, England, Estonia, Finland, France, French Polynesia, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Kuwait, Laos, Latvia, Malaysia, Maldives, Mexico, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Panama, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Scotland, Serbia, Seychelles, Singapore, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, St. Vincent & Grenadines, Suriname, Switzerland, Tanzania, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, USA, Vietnam. Note that I have now separated “United Kingdom” into Scotland and England, since I know at least one person reading along here is from Scotland, and another is from England. Also, not every country listed here has people who have continued reading along, but they did at least for a time, and many still are. Everyone is welcome!
Almost my last thought to share with all of you … please share this blog with anyone you know who might enjoy it … people who are RV-ing, people who used to RV, people who want to RV, whether in a motorhome or a trailer or a tent or the back of their car … it’s all good. And share this blog with people who never will RV but who might enjoy the journey, or people who might like to know more about this part of the world. Everyone is welcome here. The link to share that pulls up the very beginning of this blog is HERE … the link to the current blog post is always THIS ONE.
And, last but not least, my very most heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone. You folks are terrific. I find such joy in traveling about in whatever fashion, but I find even more joy in sharing with all of you. If any of you follow other travel blogs (whether RV or not) and would like to mention them here, please do so in the comments … I will check the link, and approve it, and then your comment will be posted in the comments section.
Thank you for being here and sharing the journey. My best wishes to everyone for 2021!
Ok, just one more treat for all of you. I’ve been watching online videos of canal boating and have found some really good ones. Here’s one I especially like …
It’s a narrow boat cruise on the Caledonian Canal in Scotland. My ancestry is Scottish, for the most part, and I’ve been to a few places shown in this video, so I espcially love the video. I hope it brings you some fun and peace too. Interestingly, not everything shown in this obviously commercial video is strictly from the Caledonian Canal. There is video of the Eilean Donan (“Island Donan”) Castle which isn’t anywhere near the Caledonian Canal … and some lovely fly-casting on a small river … and a very brief view of a bagpiper in Glen Coe (named after the river Coe that runs through that glen/valley) … and a few other video tidbits from around Scotland. But I love this video and hope you enjoy it too.
My very best wishes to everyone! Ok, next blog post, let’s go on a late summer 2020 camping trip!
Wow! People from all over! Many many years ago I had some widget thingy that showed the earth and had points for all the places people were reading from. Or maybe commenting from, I can’t remember. One day that widget disappeared and I never spent the time to figure out where it went or why or try to get it back. It was interesting though!
I think a river cruise would be wonderful. My parents were going to do that next, because, mom said, you don’t have to lug your suitcase around all the time when you stay on a boat! 🙂 🙂 🙂
It’s pretty fun, isn’t it? To see that people all over the world are reading your blog? Or at least they try it out. Dawn, you can borrow my list of countries any time and use it as your own. 🙂
I continue to think about taking a canal cruise, or maybe just rent a canal boat in Scotland for two or three weeks. I could rent an RV but then I’d have to drive it … with a canal cruise, someone else does the driving. So many options. We are so blessed eh? 🙂
Some of your readers are from Turkey? Tell them I said merhaba.
I will. Teşekkürler!
Wow, wish I had an office window with a view like that! Super. 🙂
I wish you had a view like that too Steve. It is indeed super. 🙂
Ann, I’m sorry I haven’t replied sooner to this post, but I can’t seem to get through the entire post without falling off my chair laughing at the last two joke graphics. I really do laugh out loud for a long time. We all need smiles, you sure gave me some. 🙂 Thank you!
You are welcome, Nebraska! Those two jokes make me laugh every time I see them too. Why not have a little chuckle? 🙂
