Kanaskat, day 2

June, 2018

After a most wonderful, lovely, peaceful night’s sleep, I was up and ready for a hike through the woods and down to the river.

Salmon berries not yet ripe.  Good eating when they are ripe.

What are these flowers?  I don’t know.  The leaves looked somewhat like Salal, but they weren’t shiny like Salal leaves often are.

As usual, you can hear the river long before you reach it.  The sound of the river teases you to hurry along the woodland path, beckoning you to join the river on its journey to the ocean.

You might want to enlarge the video below since the video is vertical instead of horizontal.  If so, click on the box-ish icon in the lower right corner of that black screen, then take your hand off the mouse and the text on the screen will go away.  After the video has played, click again on that lower right box-ish icon and this blog post will return.  (You can do that with any/all of the videos on my blog.)

I wish I could share the smell of the river with you, the feel of the mist on my face, the sound of the sand and gravel underfoot.

I didn’t notice the green/yellow reflection of the trees in the water until I had watched the video below.  It’s like gold!

In the little pond above, I imagined there was another whole world of trees and animals and birds inside that little pond.  Who knows, if I had looked closely enough and long enough, maybe I would have seen myself looking back at me.  Maybe you’re in there too. 🙂

After spending all morning with the river, I returned to my home in the woods.

I haven’t figured out yet where everything goes in the trailer, which cupboard or which drawer, there are so many places to put stuff, so I spend quite a bit of time looking for things (where did I put the battery charger for the camera? where are my slippers? I thought I put the garlic powder in the box with the olive oil!).  Give me time, I’ll figure it out.  Frankly, I was more interested in just being out in the woods with the birds and the river and flowers.  All that other “stuff” will sort itself out in due time.
