Remember when I tried to find the creek in the woods behind my campsite, the creek that I could hear from my campsite? And I got scared out in the woods because it was getting dark? And then I found that magic tree where the little people slept at night?
Well, today was another day, and I still wanted to find that creek, so I headed off on a different path. Success! I found the creek and I didn’t get scared and I didn’t get lost at all. 🙂
What a delightful creek. It just burbled along, happily making its way through the forest.
I walked along beside it as much as I could, for a little while. The underbrush was thick and prevented very much exploring.
I had just clambered around one rock and discovered this critter (below) in the water. It held perfectly still (as did I!). It looked a bit like a Harbor Seal, though they are saltwater creatures and don’t live up on the side of a mountain in a freshwater creek.
I kept watching, trying not to move so I didn’t scare it.
But it didn’t move either. I took a chance and moved enough to take some photos. It still didn’t move. What the heck?
So then I DID move around a little and I talked to the critter and it still didn’t move. By and by I found a long stick and poked the animal. Ha! It was a rock! I was sure glad no one was around to watch me talk to a rock. Don’t tell anyone ok? 🙂
Here’s a short video of this delightful little creek … turn your sound on and let your troubles drift on downstream.
Grace would so have enjoyed that creek!
Oh yes, I can see her bouncing and splashing and leaping in the water … with that big grin on her happy-dog face. 🙂 What a joy.
Oh man, I needed that burbling stream. I have been so stressed lately. I’ve watched that short video about 10 times now and it’s just what I needed. Great blog!
I’ve watched that video a number of times too David. My shoulders relax and my breathing slows. Burbling streams are great for that, aren’t they.
