Goose Lake … but not one goose on it.
The two Google Earth photos below might just confuse everyone, but I’d like to try to give you an idea of where I was yesterday morning (Paska Lake) and where I went today in the afternoon (Goose Lake).
In the photo above, Logan Lake (the town and the campground) is in the lower left corner. The RED triangle is Paska Lake, where I went yesterday (remember the cows? and the nice cabins?). Today, I headed further east, onto highway 97D/5 and turned off to explore the Lac Le Jeune area (the BLUE triangle) and the two roads that sort of hug that lake. I then headed north on the small road that parallels 97D/5. My friend Mark (I was camping beside Mark & Robin, with our two Escape trailers) … Mark had mentioned the fact that Goose Lake Road was a shortcut from Logan Lake over to yet another lake he likes to fish (no, I didn’t see Mark on this day’s adventure). So I turned off onto Goose Lake Road and headed northeast towards the YELLOW triangle, Goose Lake.
In the close-up photo above, Goose Lake is a RED triangle. You can see that there is nothing much out here, no homes, no buildings, nothing much but the real world. I was heading from the lower left to the upper right. This gravel/dirt road was mostly 1-1/2 lanes wide and it was about 9 miles long. It took me over an hour to drive because I kept slowing or stopping, and looking and gazing, and taking photos. Over the entire 9 miles, I met only three vehicles coming the opposite direction. I loved this day’s drive and you’ll see why.
First off, at Lac Le Jeune, before I ever got on the Goose Lake Road, there’s a large and very nice campground. I drove through and picked my favorite site, the one in the photo above. It was completely private, with no view of any other campers and yet with a first rate view of the lake, especially from the rear dinette inside my trailer which would be backed up to the very back part of this site. The campsite number is duly noted in my Logbook for future reference.
But further on down the road …..
September is time for hay baling in this part of the world …..
Hay Creek … some of my ancestors are the Hay Clan in Scotland.
Ok, must admit there was no actual WATER in Hay Creek when I was there. How silly is that? I bet in the springtime the creek is a torrent! 🙂
And now we’re on the Goose Lake Road below.
At the end of Goose Lake Road, I headed north up the main Highway 5A to Kamloops, then swung back south down 97D, and then west back to Logan Lake and the campground there where my little Escape trailer waited patiently for me. What a thoroughly wonderful afternoon drive. Thanks for the tip Mark. 🙂
All comments welcome … feel free to share your thoughts. It’s all good!
Hi Ann. I had never heard of “google earth” before but because you use it quite a bit here I took a look. Woa it’s great. I can see the whole world. So then I had to go find Logan Lake and Goose Lake and there they are, cool! Love that last photo in this group by the way. Great photos as always.
Thank you Tim. I love Google Earth. I can travel anywhere with it. 🙂
