Mossyrock … cows, goats, a barn!

October, 2021

Nothing could be finer than some cows, a few goats, and a barn. Well, maybe if music was involved it could be finer, but today was very good even without the music. πŸ™‚

But first off, before we get to that cow/goat/barn stuff, I was driving around the area just outside the town of Mossyrock, and saw this trailer below … (click photos to enlarge them).

What’s that about? Look at all those windows and doors, even a ramp (and yes it was a fold down ramp) on the side of the trailer near the back, all different heights. Of course, I whipped around the corner to follow behind the trailer and take more photos.

Here’s a photo of the back end of the trailer. There’s a ladder on the left up to the roof, and then a storage locker up there on top on the right, and then space on the left for standing or maneuvering or working.

What’s that all about? I couldn’t figure it out, and I still don’t know. The door on the back wall of the trailer opened to the side … it’s hinged on the side … it was not hinged on the bottom to make a ramp for horses or other animals, or for an off-road vehicle. If any of you folks know what this trailer hauls, or what it’s used for, please let the rest of us know. It was fancy, that’s for sure.

I followed along behind these folks for awhile but they were obviously headed away from where I wanted to be, so eventually I turned around and headed back to the country around Mossyrock … and to the cows and goats and a barn. πŸ™‚

Actually, I was looking for something else entirely, but came upon the field in the photo below, with the cows munching away on the hay that had been spread by the farmer.

Comfortable, friendly folk here.

And then further on down the road, around a few turns, maybe even on a whole different country road entirely, I came across these critters below … goats galore … there were at least 20 goats in the field.

Here’s a little video with a few friendly bleats in it, so turn your sound on. πŸ™‚

Just up the road from the goats was this field of future Christmas trees.

And just around the next corner, practically just across the road, was this handsome barn. What a beauty.

By now, I’d been out all morning so I headed back to my campsite for lunch. Here, below, are two videos … the first video is of the drive in through the main road of the Ike Kinswa State Park, heading towards the campground … the second video is of the drive in through the campground itself, past a few of the cabins, and then to my campsite, arriving at Towhee the Trailer just in time for lunch.

This morning’s outing was super. I wonder what’s in store for my afternoon outing. Who knows? Ah, I think I’ll have a bite of lunch and then have a little nap before I head out for afternoon exploring. πŸ™‚

Love the trees and the green of the pacific northwest. I’m with Nevada … maybe I should go home to western Washington!

    • Ann says:

It sure is worth thinking about, coming back home to Washington. “Nevada” now lives in Nevada. “Nebraska”, you now live in Nebraska (my mom did for awhile too). The rain here has now started for the fall, just a day or two ago. Rain! Solid, soggy, wet, sopping rain. Ok, maybe come for a visit in late spring or summer or gorgeous autumn. πŸ™‚ Maybe some day I’ll post a video of the rain here. It really is just like someone turned on a hose above us. We have days and weeks of dry weather throughout the winter, but when it does rain, it rains!

  2. Kinny says:

I’m not from the State of Washington, but it’s so beautiful. It sure could be home. The barn is the best. πŸ™‚

  3. M&M says:

That sure is an odd looking trailer. Friends have horses, other friends have goats, but you’re right that trailer doesn’t seem set up to haul animals. I bet the trailer cost a pretty penny tho!
Nice videos, we loved the videos!

    • Ann says:

Thanks for the nice words about the videos, M&M. I’m getting used to taking video so hope to post more. If you ever find a trailer like that one, let me know and I’ll post the info in the blog. πŸ™‚

  4. Bill Burnn says:

The series of cow photos is great, ending with the black one looking right at you. And the goat video is great, squeaky little bleats. And the barn, well, what can I say, a barn!

  5. Jamie says:

Love the videos, the barn, the goats, the cows. I never know which is my favorite photo, it’s too hard! πŸ™‚ Thanks for taking us along. I love this blog.

    • Ann says:

Thanks, Jamie. There are no rules about how many favorites you can have. πŸ™‚ Thanks for coming along on the ride.

  6. Henry says:

I am always impressed with how many trees you have, how massive they are. It would be wonderful to camp in the midst of them. Most camp sites in England are in open fields, leaving the forests for the beasts and the birds. Lovely blog.

    • Ann says:

Henry, I always like your comments. We do have so many trees/forests here in Washington State. It seems we have enough for beasts and birds and humans. May it always be so.

  7. Rob Arnold says:

Great trailer. I tried finding something like it online with no luck. Weird thing, eh?
Loved the one black cow photo.

    • Ann says:

I couldn’t find anything about that trailer either, Rob. That one black cow just looked at me like “what’s with that weird animal that stands upright? How does it eat if its face can’t reach the ground? And what’s that black thing (my camera) that it holds in front of its face?” Maybe cows are smarter than we think.

  8. Lori says:

Cows, goats, barn … cool! πŸ™‚

  9. Fran says:

Love it all. Keep it coming. πŸ™‚

  10. Cindy says:

Most blogs I read don’t let photos enlarge. Thanks for making yours do that. I like the cows and goat video and the last two videos. baa-aaa-a! πŸ™‚

    • Ann says:

I spent a good deal of time figuring out how to allow the photos to enlarge with just a click of the mouse by my readers. In the end, it was a simple thing to do … it just wasn’t obvious in WordPress app or their info. baa-aaa-a! Love it. πŸ™‚

  11. Paul Dahl says:

That trailer is certainly strange, a head scratcher for sure. Must be some kind of custom built unit, I shudder to think how much it must have cost. :cO

    • Ann says:

I thought about how much it must have cost too, Paul. Scary. Well, scary, unless you’re the builder getting paid to build it.
