I know I said this post would be about my next camping trip, but I got distracted by this very serious question.
There is a great misunderstanding in the world about which animal is a Mountain Goat vs. which animal is a Mountain Sheep. I bet that misunderstanding keeps you awake at night just like it does me.
Ok, maybe not so much. 🙂
But recently I had reason to wonder about which is which, and if I really knew which was which, so I looked it up on Google. You can guess that Google gave me lots of answers, some of which were not relevant, but most of the answers were relevant. It took me a good bit of time to read several websites, and watch several videos.
When I found the video below, I stopped searching. This video answers the question perfectly!
Enjoy. 🙂 Turn your sound on. But pay attention … there’s a spot towards the end where the screen goes black, but it isn’t the end, keep watching.
I’ll bet you will remember this video … and the difference between mountain goats and mountain sheep … forever. 🙂
Ok, next blog post will be the first day of my next camping trip. I promise.
Ann, Your blogs are ALWAYS so entertaining. This video was fantastic. I hope that you have a good time camping when you finally do get out there. Thanks
Thanks Bob. I will keep you posted!
How fun is that! Thanks Ann! 🙂
You are welcome, Marge! 🙂
Just shows you can laugh AND learn something all at the same time. Thanks!
I thought so too, Kinny … I laugh every time I watch that video. 🙂
LOL! That was great. Made my day.
Made my day too Rob. I just couldn’t resist sharing it. Thanks for being here.
Ann, this is terrible LOL! My husband and I enjoy that video so much that we keep watching it over and over, and now the song is stuck in our heads …. sheep and goats, goats and sheep, we live where the mountains are steep … goats and sheep, sheep and goats, climbing high, we don’t need your ropes, nope, nope. Ha! You are probably correct, we will probably never forget the difference between mountain sheep and mountain goats.
On the other hand, we have seen those curled horn mountain sheep (or the short horned BROWN female mountain sheep, we thought they were goats) on roadways licking the road and we never knew why. Thanks for making learning fun.
That’s funny Lori. It’s stuck in my head too. I go through my day and every once in a while I stop and realize I’m singing that song in my head (or even out loud, I must admit). “sheep and goats, goats and sheep, we live where ……” I try my best to think of something else, or sing something else, but later in the day I realize it’s in my head … again! sigh.
You are so right.. I will surely remember which is which from now on. Have you been up to Hurricane Ridge and seen the goats? If not, you should go while you’re at Dungeness. The goat’s have worn out their welcome and are being removed from the park. This may be the final chance to see them.
