My truck acts up

You might remember that I recently moved. One of the reasons I decided to move was so I could have my travel trailer at my home any time I wanted … to do maintenance on the trailer at my leisure, or for a comfortable place to house guests, or even just so I can admire my little trailer any ol’ time I want.

But since I only just recently moved, I haven’t quite gotten to the point of bringing the trailer to my new home yet. In fact, because moving takes such a huge amount of time and energy, I haven’t been to the storage lot even to see the trailer for three months!

But the other day, it was just too beautiful out. Even though I’m still unpacking and sorting and trying to find my toothbrush, I got a bee in my bonnet about getting outside because the day was so beautiful.

So this morning, I got lots of paperwork and computer work done at home in the morning.  I finally figured out how to get my home address changed with Social Security and Medicare (it wasn’t easy!).  And then after lunch I decided to check on the trailer at the storage lot since I hadn’t been there for so long.

It was really nice to see the trailer again. But wouldn’t you know it … while I was there in the storage yard visiting the trailer, this dag nabbed big white truck of mine simply started her engine, then backed up to the trailer ALL BY HERSELF and hitched up, and then started to drive off the storage yard property with the trailer in tow but without me! HEY, wait up!!

I had to run quick as bunny to catch up and jump into the cab of the truck.  But I did indeed do that and then this truck-with-a-mind-of-her-own drove to the new house and backed that trailer into the driveway slick as a whistle.  Both the trailer and the truck fit nicely in the driveway, as I hoped they would.  The trailer is plugged into 110 electric.  And life is good!

I have some spring maintenance to do on the trailer so it will be very convenient to have the trailer right outside my front door, with all of my tools close at hand in the house and garage. I’ll take the trailer back to its covered storage in a week or so. Hopefully, this big white truck of mine won’t get it in her pretty head to hitch up and go camping without me!

So glad not to miss your blog posts! Re-subscribing was easy and now I can stay up to date. Your rig will love it’s new home.

Yes, it seems the rig likes this new home! At some point, I may cancel the spot at the storage lot, buy a cover for the trailer, and simply keep the trailer at home full-time.

I am laughing over this post.
I love those big trees behind your house.

OK Ann, I hope it worked this time. Just back from a road trip ourselves. Don’t forget to put Stavis Bay State Park south of Seabeck on your list.

    • Ann says:

Oh yes, I have Stavis Bay State Park on my list for sure, Bob. So many campgrounds, so little time.
Hope your road trip was just the right amount of exciting.

Hmmmm..I had to check fur sure….There is no Stavis State Park….At least in Washington…..
Someone has been smoking some kelp or seaweed….
    Take Care,
    A washington native…..

Good eyes, David! I count on you readers to double-check everything here and you did an excellent job of that, thank you. Yes, there is no “Stavis State Park”. But there is a Stavis Creek and a local park there, and that creek runs through public DNR land, and it’s practically adjacent to Scenic Beach State Park which is what Bob meant in his comment. All of that area is wrangled up in a lovely, gorgeous recreational area. Nevertheless, if someone not familiar with Kitsap Peninsula was trying to find the area using “Stavis State Park” in an online search, then they’d come up empty handed.
Also, interestingly, for those of you readers who don’t know this and who maybe though David was joking, people DO smoke seaweed … there are types that produce a “high” and there are types that are smoked for their healthy Omega-3 properties. Haven’t tried it myself. 🙂
