Problems with this blog … grrrr!

Hi everyone … first off, my apologies for needing to share this with you.  But secondly, I really do need to share this with you.

The company (Bluehost) that has been hosting this blog has been LESS than helpful about resolving problems that they admitted were on their end.  They want to charge me more money, LOTS more money, and I have refused.

My only option at this point is to move the blog to another host company and that might take a bit of doing and some time.  It can be done.  There are plenty of other fish in the sea with regards to companies that host WordPress blogs, so I have lots of options.  It is done “all the time”, but I certainly don’t like the time it will take me to do that.

The website name “travelswithtowhee.com” will not change.  I own that domain name.  You’ll still be able to get to this blog at that same website address.  But the blog might be offline for a bit while I sort this out.

I have back-up copies of the blog … and I have your contact information in case I need to send you a notice that the blog is back up and running … and I have back-up copies of all of the photos and links and everything else.

Eventually this blog will be hosted by a new company and will look just like it always has … just give me a little time to make this happen.  In the meantime, I will leave the blog up and running here in case we want to chat with each other.  Feel free to post comments below about anything at all …

Little Towhee and I apologize for any confusion or lack of precision here.  She will get me back on the road again soon.

I understand. I would refuse to pay, too.
Just let me know when you are up and running again.

Thank you Ginger. I will leave the blog up as long as possible here … and, hopefully, give all of you folks plenty of warning about any changes. I have already moved the registration of the domain name to another company … will continue to move it a piece at a time so that as little interruption as possible happens.

  2. Glad you have backup. Would hate to lose touch.

If I had to pay to have my blog I wouldn’t have started it at all. I’ll be waiting for your new blog.

I’ve been looking at Blogger. I’d have to reload photos and then copy/paste text. But I think I can use my domain name so anyone who has links to my blog would use the same URL. I’ve heard Blogger is a bit more cumbersome and has fewer fancy apps compared to WordPress. But I’m finding I don’t use the fancy apps in WordPress and I like the “free” part about Blogger. I read your blog Jo (nine years! way to go) and I read Bayfield Bunch (12 years with TONS of photos that enlarge) … both are on Blogger and both are fast! So …. in the end …. what I will likely do is keep this blog here for now, even though it’s slow, while I rebuild it over on Blogger. Fast and free are excellent incentives!

I read where some people use live writer or something like that to post to blogger. I just use straight blogger. I have rarely had any problems and I am not very good at computing so it works well for me.
Good luck with your change over and I hope you enjoy it much more.

I’ve heard about “live writer” too, as an editing tool for Blogger, but know nothing about it either. Looking at just the basic Blogger app, it seems awfully straight-forward. Thanks for your input Jo, that helps.
