Sometimes I think I live alone, and sometimes I know I don’t.
I have dozens of birds who come to visit and a whole passel of squirrels that hang around my back patio. In prior blog posts, you saw the rabbit and the skunk who came to visit. One evening last week I was sitting inside, reading, minding my own business, when this little person ambled into view outside my back patio sliding glass door.
She took her time checking the place out … you never know where a delicious tidbit might be hiding.
But she eventually tallied the place up as a total loss and wandered off through the same hole in the fence that the skunk had taken a few months ago. Is my back patio a freeway or what? Truth-be-told, I love my visitors and their visits. 🙂
We had a family of them in the spring. The adults are silent, but the little ones make chirping sounds. They loved playing together, rolling around and playing in the waterfall of the pond. They climbed our fences, scampered through the back and front yards, chirping away, and triggering the various motion sensitive lights we have on the property.
Oh, golly gosh, I want a family of raccoons like that! Is the trick to install motion sensitive lights for them to play with? I suppose the pond and waterfall are the real hit for them though. Thanks for those images, Arlene, what fun. 🙂
You have the perfect spot for visitors!
Evidently! 🙂 ha! Or maybe they think they have the perfect home and I am the visitor, to be tolerated as long as I keep my distance.
I found one washing something in my swimming pool. It was huge and had long claws.
I was afraid for my little dog and tried to encourage it to leave. He stood up on his back legs and snarled at me. I grabbed the dog beat a hasty retreat into the house, his teeth were huge too!
Holy smokes, that was probably a wise move on your part. Raccoons are known to be fearless. I sure don’t want to mess with a skunk but at least they will try to get away, whereas a raccoon will just stand there and look at you like you are lunchmeat and then get aggressive if you don’t back down. Hmm, not sure I’d want to eat something that was washed in a swimming pool if it had chlorinated water in it, but then I’m not a raccoon … and I’m happy for that! 🙂 I’m glad your dog was ok, Adrienne.
Great pictures!
🙂 Thank you.
