Silver Lake, the evening back at camp

October, 2020

We had a great day today, a little disappointing since we didn’t get to have a full-on view into the crater of the volcano. But we had a great day. After our driving explorations on the road towards the mountain, and then after our trail walks at Seaquest State Park, and the walk out onto the marshland boardwalks, we were tired and happy to get back home to our trailers and our campsites at Silver Lake Resort.

You can see in the photos below that I was again drawn out onto the small docks with the small boats … and you can see that there was indeed no Mt. St. Helens in view. She had wrapped herself up in fluffy white clouds.

But there was action on the lake. A few folks had walked out on the dock, and were fishing from the dock. And a few folks were out in their boats, going fishing on this lovely autumn evening.

The fellow above spent quite a bit of time fiddling with something under the dash, while his boat just barely moved through the water. Ah, but whatever needed tweeking, evidently got tweeked! Varoom!

A quieter scene above … with a boater who was happy with the Johnson outboard motor just putt-putt-ing along.

There were four or five cabins on the Silver Lake Resort property. I liked two of them. The one above is #11. It was a bit larger than the others and had a view of all of the comings and goings on the dock. That would be fun.

But the one I liked the most was #7 below … all by itself over on the edge of the property.

With this view from the lake front porch, I thought maybe I could simply live in cabin #7 forever.

But then I walked back to our campsites to find my friends had built yet another extraordinary campfire, and I knew I wanted to live right there, wherever I was, in my trailer or my home, in my life, wherever that took me.

And yes maybe if you look really closely, you’ll see that the sticks in this campfire photo above are identical to the ones from last night. The photo above is from last night’s campfire. I didn’t take any photos of our campfire this second evening. I was just too relaxed. ๐Ÿ™‚

Gosh I sure love that idea of loving your life, whatever your life is, and not wishing for something different. We seem to strive for something different, to be somewhere else, or be doing something else. Happiness with where we find ourselves seems to be in short supply. Thanks for that thought, Ann. Great blog!

Thanks Fran. Sometimes it’s hard to stop myself wishing for something different. Happiness is right here where I am, after all. On the other hand, exploring is super great. I just need to make sure I know the difference. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, no kidding! We had another perfect campfire but I was just too relaxed too even pick up my camera, much less take a photo. Ain’t life grand? ๐Ÿ™‚

Ahh a campfire. (I can imagine sitting around with a wee dram and a slice of pie.) How relaxing. The simple pleasures of camping, it is great to boil life down to just the essentials. And let’s 3D print a cabin #7 and move in!
